Born in Lares, Puerto Rico, Joanna R. Sosa, known artistically as JoA, is a self-taught contemporary artist whose work is rooted in her family's artistic heritage. For her, painting is an inheritance of the heart: a way of honoring where she comes from while transforming memory, emotion, and the beauty of nature into lasting works of art.
Working in abstract expression across acrylics, watercolor, and drawing on canvas, paper, and reclaimed cardboard, she begins each piece not with a plan, but with a feeling. Guided by intuition and layered with color, movement, and texture, her paintings become visual narratives that speak beyond words: art meant not simply to be admired, but to be felt.
